C. Strengthening Maternal Neonatal Helath Services in Dhanusha
Project Summary:
“Strengthening Maternal Neonatal Health Services in Partnership with the Local Government” implemented by Community Family Welfare Association (CFWA) Dhanusha with financial and technical support from One Heart World-Wide, is being carried out across all 18 local governments of Dhanusha District, Nepal. The project is focused on drastically reducing home deliveries, aiming to achieve zero home births by enhancing the capacity of existing health facilities and birthing centers. This initiative includes upgrading infrastructure, providing essential equipment, and training healthcare providers to ensure safe and skilled childbirth. By strengthening the local health system and fostering collaboration with government bodies, the project seeks to improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes, ensuring that every mother has access to quality care during childbirth.

Project objectives:
O1: Strengthen health systems through the capacity building of local governments.
O2: Increase demand for MNH services through community awareness and engagement.
O3: Enhance MNH service delivery by improving infrastructure and clinical skills.
O4: Improve the quality of MNH services through quality assurance processes.
O5: Support coordination, monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning for sustainable outcomes.
Target beneficiaries: 25,000 individuals, including pregnant women (PW), recently delivered women (RDW), Adolescents, mothers-in-law from vulnerable communities and FCHVs, nursing staffs health professionals and local-level authorities of Dhanusha district.
